Well, I sure will still keep an eye on your blog. I’ve added this rss to my feed.
One of the things that I prefered during my stay on Iona (in May 07) was the rocks, be it on beaches or as pebbles. I was fascinated by the geology of the region and I was so glad I found your blog (too bad it was after my stay)

Some of the Iona pebbles have made it into my gallery as pendants. I still have a good supply for the future but some day I must return.

Thanks for the comments so far! Dragonlady, the beach at St Columba’s Bay in Iona has to be one of the most colourful anywhere, as far as its pebbles are concerned. Best time to go is at a low tide, after some stormy weather – go right to the waterline and you will get good examples of the serpentine marble. Also, the bay just round the corner from it is good (Port Goirtein Iar) Its right on the SE tip of Iona. Great place!

Let me see what I can do….

      Cheers

Followed you over from Island Blogging, where I was never able to post a comment, for some reason. Hope you’ll continue to post somewhere and will bookmark this one for now.

Carol, et al, Yes, I am sorry I havent been able to do very much of late. Problem is, well maybe its a good reason, is that I hae embarked on a part time MSc by research at Glasgow University. So all my “geology time ” is currently taken up with mapping and looking at rocks in quite some serious detail

Because of this, i simply dont have the time, at present anyway, to do much on the blogging front.

However, once things settle down, and esp over the winter months, I am hoping to get some more material “up” for you all again!

    I’ll be back……
